Mrs. Margaret Beam Woodard, 86, of LaGrange, passed away on August 14, 2021. Mrs. Woodard was born on March 19, 1935 in Newell, Alabama to the late Oscar Lenard Beam and Vera Mae Hanson Beam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elvert Lawrence Woodard; son, Lawrence Mark Woodard; brother, Hollis Beam; brother-in-law, Herschel Cash; sister-in-law, Barbara Eades.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Vickie and Don Gillespie; sister, Helen Cash; grandchildren, Kellie Moseley, Jessica Moseley O’Connell (Aaron) and Lauren Moseley Gillespie (Brian); great grandchild, Geoffrey Gillespie; nieces, nephews and many life-long friends.
Mrs. Woodard retired from Loy’s Office Supply and was an active member of the Dunson Baptist Church for over seventy-two years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
There will be a funeral service honoring Mrs. Woodard as well as her son, Mark Woodard who passed away on February 16, 2021. This service will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Dunson Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Cole officiating. Entombment will follow the service at the Shadowlawn Mausoleum. Family will receive friends on Saturday evening, August 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand, 506 Hill Street, LaGrange, 706-884-5626.
