Melvin Thornton passed away Friday.
He was born on Saturday, Oct. 25, 1947, to Albert Lewis Thornton and the late Dorothy Burton Thornton.
He graduated from Ethel W. Kight High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his father: Albert Lewis Thornton of LaGrange; his children: Vaughn Thornton, Angela-Crystal Thornton both of Cleveland, Ohio; Chancellor Thornton of Atlanta; Athena Thornton of LaGrange; two grandchildren; Analise Horn and Inaya Thornton both of Cleveland, Ohio; siblings: Bernice Rector (William) of Union City, Georgia; William Craig (Cynthia) Thornton of LaGrange; Jarrell (Karen) Thornton of Atlanta; Janice (James) Hill of Hinesville, Georgia; Taylor (Lanetta) Thornton of Newnan; and Jackie Hill of LaGrange; aunt, Marion Towns of LaGrange; uncle, Harvey (Yvette) Thornton of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Southview Cemetery. The Service will be streamed live via Facebook@Lakes-Dunson-Robertson.
