Artisans on the Square in Greenville is welcoming the many hunters who come to Meriwether County every year by hosting a Wildlife and Sporting Art Exhibit from Sept. 11 to Nov. 6. The opening reception is Saturday, Sept. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. Complementary refreshments will include local items such as wine from Warm Springs Winery, beer from Towerhouse Brewery in Gay, and cream cheese with Hot Peach Jam from Fitzgerald Farms in Woodbury.
Nine regional artists are exhibiting wildlife and sporting art, five of wich are from Troup County — Steve Close, Cindy Fulks, Susan Gadrix, Lori Bartlett Harrell and Charlie Warner. Other artists are Steven Stinchcomb from Fayetteville, Bucky Bowles from Fortson, John Wilson from Hamilton and Keith Moore from Valley, Alabama.
Gallery owner Linda Wilburn says this is the first exhibit they have hosted to welcome hunters and hopes it will become an annual event with more community participation to show hunters how much they are appreciated in our county.
