Arlen Henry Welborn, 89, of Five Points, Alabama passed away in his home on September 13, 2021. He was born on May 7, 1932 in Franklin, Georgia, to the late Sarah Elizabeth Welborn.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Lee Burgess Welborn, and his 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son, Arlen Gene Welborn of LaGrange and son and son-in-law, Roger Dean Welborn and David Torok of Washington, District of Columbia
Mr. Welborn served his country as a solider in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. As a Staff Sargent, he served two tours of duty as a helicopter maintenance mechanic at Cu Chi outside Saigon.
He was also a long time member of the Wehadkee Baptist Church in LaGrange. During the last two decades of his life, he developed a love for riding motorcycles, especially on weekend charity rides.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, Georgia. Interment will follow at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral.
