A machete-wielding man shot by a LaGrange Police Department officer last week has been released from the hospital and is in the Troup County Jail.
Ronald Ray McCormick, 39, of LaGrange, was released from Columbus Medical Center Monday. Video footage from the LPD showed that McCormick had been shot in the stomach after he charged an officer while holding a machete.
McCormick was transported to the Troup County Jail following his release from Columbus Medical Center and charged for the outstanding felony warrants that had been issued by Troup County Superior Court.
McCormick was also arrested on warrants issued for aggravated assault on a peace officer and felony obstruction as a result of the investigation that began on Sept. 28, which determined that McCormick charged an officer with a machete held over his head in an attempt to cause serious bodily harm to the officer, according to a press release from the LPD.
