Bobby Gene “Pop” Roye passed away peacefully at his home in Senoia, Georgia on Oct.22, 2021.
He was 83 years of age and was surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in LaGrange, Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Henry Lee and Minnie Faye (Norred) Roye of LaGrange, Georgia. He is also preceded in death by his sister, the late JoLene (Roye) Kyzer of LaGrange, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Faye (Johnston) Roye. He is a graduate of Troup County High School in LaGrange, Georgia. and Emmanuel Bible College in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1957 through 1961. He was employed with Eastern Airlines as an aircraft mechanic for 30 years.
Mr. Roye was an ordained deacon and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Riverdale, Ga. He attended New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia for over 20 years.
Mr. Roye is survived by three children: Donna Roye (Dan McDuffie) of Senoia, Georgia.; Lynn Smith (Bobby) of Newnan, Georgia.; and Rob Roye (Julie Shockley) of Senoia, Georgia. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Brittany Baugh (Matt) of Spring, Texas; Mindy Smith (Tim Abel) of Roy, Utah; and Rachel Garcia (Anthony) of McDonough, Georgia. He is also survived by two great-grandsons: Kalel Baugh, Spring Texas; and Lucas Baugh, also of Spring Texas.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, in Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
