Andrew Hough threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Dollar with 23 seconds left as Lafayette Christian (6-3) beat Southern Christian 36-34 Friday night on senior night for the Cougars.
It was a back and forth game all evening.
Ephraim Synder had a 1-yard run in the first quarter to tie the game at 6-6. Hough threw a 36-yard pass to Braden Firth to put the Cougars up 12-6, but the two-point try was no good.
Southern tied the game at 12-12, then took a 20-12.
Alex Tusing returned a kickoff 85 yards to pull the Cougars within 20-18.
Hough threw a TD pass to Tusing to put the Cougars back ahead 24-20, and LCS had a 10-point lead after Hough hit Dollar for a 10-yard score.
Southern came roaring back, scoring the next two touchdowns to take the lead with 1:11 left to play.
But LCS refused to be denied, and Dollar’s touchdown in the final seconds gave the Cougars the victory.
