Due to the increase in COVID positive cases around the nation and state, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office will reinstate its policy for all visitors to wear masks in order to enter its facility.
Stewart Smith with the Sheriff’s Office specified that this policy is not a result of positive cases within the department or inmate population but is merely a precaution. The Sheriff’s Office also asks those who are sick or have had a recent exposure to someone who is sick to not enter the facility.
The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 164 new COVID cases in Troup County on Dec. 20, triple the cases since the GDPH’s previous update of 50 cases on Dec. 6
