Driver killed in two vehicle accident on Hogansville Road

A driver who was killed in a two-vehicular car accident Thursday morning has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to be identified.
The driver, who appeared to be male, has not yet been identified due to his body being badly burned in the accident, said Troup County Chief Deputy Coroner Amy Sheppard.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
According to GSP’s preliminary report, the victim had been driving a Chevrolet pick-up truck and was traveling southbound on State Route 14 near W. Hopson Roadwhen he failed to maintain his lane. The Chevrolet traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic in the northbound lane when it struck the opposite car, a Kia Telluride, head-on. After impact, the Chevrolet pick-up became engulfed in flames.
The identity of the fatality victim is being withheld until next of kin notification has been verified.
Passengers in the Kia Telluride sustained minor injuries.
