The Troup County Board of Commissioners recognized ten of its executive leaders for completing a one-year-long leadership development program facilitated by LeaderGov, a leadership development and strategic planning firm in Atlanta that specializes exclusively in local government.

These participants engaged in twelve workshops that focused on their growing understanding of themselves as leaders, developing tools to achieve strategic goals, and honing skills to help ensure greater success in leading and developing teams. The workshops were completed collaboratively in an effort to foster peer-to-peer learning. Throughout the program, members improved in areas such as trust building, dealing with conflict, knowing their personality style, servant leadership, setting high-impact goals, execution of goals, leading change, accountability, and how to motivate and support a team.

“We are investing in our leaders so we have smooth succession planning in the years to come,” County Manger Eric Mosley said. “We are also doing this because we know that leaders who know how to lead get more done, and that better serves our citizens at the end of the day. Equipped leaders build strong morale and trust and deal with issues in a productive way, and that’s what we want. Our citizens will directly benefit from this work that our team did.”

Tim Fenbert, President of LeaderGov, said he was pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the managers and leaders of Troup County Government and believes the future looks bright for the success of its ongoing leadership.
