The Atlanta Braves World Series trophy made a pit stop in LaGrange over the weekend with thousands of local fans flocking to Sweetland Amphitheater to take a picture with the commissioner’s trophy.

Fans brought out their Braves gear and turned Sweetland into a Braves satellite campus.

“Do you like my shirt?” Brenda Prophett said, pointing to her 1995 World Series Championship shirt. “I don’t think I’ve worn it since then.”

Braves fans old and new came out to enjoy an afternoon of celebration.

“We have been fans for quite some time,” Bill Keurzi said, flashing his replica 2022 World Series Championship ring.

With some of the trophy stops being confined to tight indoor locations, LaGrange was able to set it in an open area. This allowed the trophy stop to be more than just a photo opportunity. Sweetland had games for kids set up, such as pitching in front of a speed gun among other activities.

After the kids games, it was time for Braves trivia. The winners were Callaway High School’s own Jason Graham and Adam Sledge.

The evening ended with the Atlanta Braves drumline, the heavy hitters, rattling off some tunes before performances from the drum lines of Callaway, Heard County,  LaGrange and Troup high schools.

Also on hand were members of the local high school baseball, softball and little league teams, as well as LaGrange College’s baseball team, who were honored for their tremendous season that saw them make a deep run at the Division III World Series.
