Police have so far been unable to identify the truck responsible for sending its tires crashing into a LaGrange woman’s home.
On Tuesday, Aug. 30, two large truck tires crashed through the home of 91-year-old Della Ogletree.
The tires crashed into the home around 4 p.m., smashing through the exterior. The heavy tires had enough momentum to crash through one bedroom and into a second.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police believe a tractor-trailer had been traveling through LaGrange when a set of tandem wheels broke off the trailer and rolled into a home in the 1600 block of U.S. Hwy 27.
LaGrange police say a witness reported seeing the tires breaking off of a white tractor-trailer truck and rolling away, but they didn’t see the tires crash into the home.
Investigators attempted to locate security video that may provide information on the truck, but so far, they have come up empty.
“We have currently exhausted all potential leads to identify the truck and driver at this point,” Sgt. Chris Pritchett said.
“From what I understand from industry professionals that I’ve spoken to, it is extremely likely that the truck driver didn’t even know the wheels came off,” Pritchett said. “The driver could have been over 100 miles away when they discovered they were missing.”
With eight sets of dually wheels (16 wheels in total) on the trailer, police believe it might’ve been a while before it was noticed.
