The Oasis Lunch & Learn lecture series is set to return later this month after going on hiatus for two years.
Leslie Bendell recently announced the return of the monthly gardening education series. The lectures will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Active Life Center in LaGrange.
The program was originally started by the Troup County Master Gardeners in 2018 and held at LaGrange Memorial Library. Bendell helped create the series when she served as president for the group.
“When [the library] closed for renovations, the lectures were moved to the LaGrange Art Museum. Then COVID hit, so I shut it down,” Bendell said. “This is starting it back up after two years of not doing the series.”
Bendell advised that the series is no longer a Master Gardener event, saying she has taken it on as a personal project.
Everyone is welcome to attend the lectures, so you do not have to be an Active Life Center member or a senior to participate.
“They’re allowing people that aren’t necessarily part of Active Life to come in and participate, which is just so gracious,” Bendell said.
Bendell explains that the lectures are roughly 45 minutes, so people can join for their lunch break. Most of the lectures are taught through presentation slides with question and answer sessions, but Bendell said she hopes to have at least one hands-on class in the spring.
The first lecture of the new series will discuss fall planted bulbs on Sept. 21. The full agenda for the series has not been finalized.
All lectures will take place on the third Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon at the LaGrange Active Life Center at 140 Raglan Street in LaGrange.
