Mr. Edward Dean McCarthy, of LaGrange, passed away on Sept. 17, 2022.  

Mr. McCarthy was born on Feb. 22, 1932, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to the late Jeremiah McCarthy and Louise H. McCarthy.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David McCarthy and siblings, Jerema Bellefeulle-Amas and Corice Cosgriff.  

Survivors include his wife, Georgina Bailey McCarthy; daughter, Meredith Newman and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Morgan Newman and Megan Eady and her husband, Drew; great grandson, Branson Eady; nieces, nephews and extended family.  

Mr. McCarthy graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1959 followed by faithful service to his country in the United States Army. 

Following his military service, he worked for many years at General Motors, and in later years, worked and retired from the Bible League working in their Fund Raising and Development Office.  

Mr. McCarthy was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square. Services for Mr. McCarthy will be held on Wed. Sept. 21, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand with Rev. Paul Blair officiating.  

Family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M.
