15-year-old accidentally shot after getting into altercation with 12-year-old over handgun

A 15-year-old was shot in the hand after an altercation with a 12-year-old juvenile while walking along the 1000 block of Borton Street Tuesday.
According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, officers responded to 996 Kelley Street in reference to a person shot at approximately 5:27 p.m. Officers made contact with the female, who said she was talking with her brother and the male juvenile. The male juvenile had obtained a handgun while committing the offense of Entering Auto earlier this date. The LPD said the male and female juveniles engaged in an altercation over the firearm at which time the firearm was accidentally discharged.
The female received medical treatment at the scene and was later transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center for further treatment. The male juvenile has been charged with entering auto, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm under 18.
