Troup’s defense faltered in a 83-65 loss to region-leading Whitewater on Tuesday night.
The Tigers got enough offense to hang around early, but when the offense stalled in the second quarter, the lead became too big for a comeback. Troup trailed by just six points at the end of the first quarter but could only muster six points in the second quarter, which led to a 23-point deficit at halftime.
The Tigers actually outscored the Wildcats 46-41 in the second half, but it was too little, too late.
Deo’Vion Tucker scored a team-high 12 points in the game while DeJaylen Campbell and Dee Moreland each scored 10 points each in the game.
After winning three games straight, the Tigers have now lost three in a row as the season proves to be a topsy-turvy one so far.
Troup fell to 7-7 overall and is still searching for its first region win of the season (0-3). The Tigers will get a chance to get that first region win again on Friday when they host fourth place Riverdale.
