Callaway girls waltzed to a 53-16 victory over Redan on the road on Tuesday.
The Cavaliers put away any doubt early when they took a comfortable 20-4 lead into the second quarter. The scoring slowed down a little from there as the Cavaliers put the game on cruise control and allowed some reserve players to get some varsity minutes.
The Cavalier offense was led by Raniya Mahone who scored nine of her game high 15 points in the first quarter to set the tone early. Lacey Thomas scored 12 and Keiyunna Maddox dropped 10 to help lead the way for the Cavaliers. Jailyn Baker showed her range by hitting two 3-pointers and finishing with eight points.
The Callaway defense was also superb, never letting Redan score more than six points in a quarter.
One of the only blemishes for Callaway was its inefficiency from the free throw line where they connected on only eight of 20 attempts.
Callaway bounced back from a loss to non-region rivals Heard County last time out to improve to 8-4 overall and 7-2 in region play. The Cavaliers return to the court on Friday when they take on McNair at home.
