On Friday, 8’s Cigar Lounge officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting hosted by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce.

Owned by husband-wife duo Derwin and Janice Brewer, 8’s Cigar Lounge came about as a passion project of Derwin’s, Janice said.

“Derwin has a passion for cigars,” Janice said. “We’ve been looking at doing this for a long time when he realized it’s almost time for him to retire. This will give him something to do. So I invested into this with him.”

Janice said they are excited to be a part of the chamber and the local community. 

“Saturday was the grand opening and it was such a huge success — having a community to come out and support us the way they do and being a part of the chamber allows us to be out in the community,” Janice said.

Janice said the building the lounge operates out of was a gift from Derwin’s mother.

“She knew this was a passion of her son’s,” Janice said. “She gifted us this building so we could start this business. She owns that whole area and the event center next door.”

Janice said the lounge offers cigars for purchase along with hookahs and accessories. She also said the lounge will have entertainment from time to time ranging from live bands, comedians and a saxophonist.

Along with a variety of cigars and hookahs, the lounge will also offer membership services.

“Members can purchase a membership for $50 a month. If they want to pay for it upfront, it’s $550 a year,” Janice said. “The membership package includes a private humidor, 10% off of cigars up or accessories, invitations to private parties and a welcome gift bag.”

Janice said she wants the lounge to be a place for everyone.

“We don’t want it to be just one side of the community, we want it to be the LaGrange community,” Janice said.

8’s Cigar Lounge is located at 208 Daniel Street and is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
