UPDATED: 15 year old dies from injuries suffered in Saturday shooting

The 15-year-old who was shot on Saturday near Handley Street has died, according to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department.
The male juvenile, identified by Coroner Erin Hackley as Quendarrious Woodyard, was pronounced deceased at Grady Hospital in Atlanta on Tuesday.
The incident occurred Saturday night at approximately 7:47 p.m. Officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 200 block of Handley Street in reference to a subject that had been shot. When officers arrived, they located a male juvenile near 14 Habersham Drive with a gunshot wound in his back. Officers began medical treatment on the subject until the ambulance arrived on scene.
The case is still under investigation. The LPD is asking anyone with information on this incident to call the LaGrange Police Department at (706)883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706)812-1000.
“We don’t have the shooter or shooters identified at this time,” said LPD Detective Amy Sweatt. “We need any and all information that would lead us to those people.”
The Troup County School System released a statement on Tuesday afternoon, confirming there was a student who died over the weekend, but it did not identify the student.
“Today, the Troup County School System became aware of a 15-year-old student who passed away this afternoon after being injured outside of school in an incident over the weekend in LaGrange,” the statement said. “TCSS is deeply saddened over this loss, and our thoughts and condolences go out to the family members and friends of the student.”
