On Friday morning, the Hillside community received heavy damage from a storm that passed through at roughly 4:30 a.m. The storm damaged several properties, including Callaway Stadium, Health Department and Beacon Brewery.
Chase Hudson, owner of Beacon Brewery said the business lost the roof on the main building and received heavy water damage. The storm also knocked over AC units located on the roof of the building as well.
“Besides the roof and water damage, the rest of the building seems OK,” Hudson said. “We look to get it fixed and get it back open as soon as we can.”
Looking ahead to reconstruction, Hudson said he has been on the phone with insurance trying to figure out what the next steps will be.
“We had a contractor out here a few minutes ago but we’re going to get a tarp for the roof for now and get it dried out so we can get the power cut back on,” Hudson said. “Because of everything being soaking wet, we can’t turn the power on just yet. Hopefully, we’ll get it all dried out either today or tomorrow and start putting the roof back.”
