On Thursday afternoon, it was reported to THINC administration that two male students were discussing guns and bullets on the bus that was transporting them from Troup High School to THINC Academy, according to a press release from the Troup County School System. THS is the base school for both students.
The student was searched by a West Georgia Technical Police Officer and a loaded 9mm handgun was found in the waistband of one of the students. He was taken in custody.
The second student who was questioned and searched was not found to be in possession of a firearm, but has been suspended pending further investigation of the incident.
“The primary goal of the Troup County School System is to ensure the safety of all students, as such we will continue to investigate this situation according to district policies and procedures,” a press release from TCSS said.
