The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident after a woman was shot in Manchester over the weekend.

An undisclosed woman was discovered shot Sunday night in the 100 block of Tuskegee Ln. in Manchester, according to Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith.

MCSO Deputies were called to Tuskegee Ln. around 11:38 p.m. in reference to a 911 call about a person who had been shot.

Deputies arrived to find a female in her mid-40s had been shot at a residence.

The victim was then transported to the Roosevelt Memorial Airport and airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Subsequent investigation into this incident revealed that unknown person(s) fired multiple gunshots from the roadway into the occupied residence, striking the woman.

“The female victim was shot while in her bed and is listed in critical condition,” Smith said.

“This is an active ongoing investigation, and we are requesting the public’s help in identifying those responsible for this heinous and senseless act.”
