UPDATE at 6:50 AM: The Troup County School System said Monday morning that employees will be delayed two hours in coming into work as storms continued to impact the area.
The Troup County School System has canceled school for Monday, based on the impending rain that will impact the area overnight.
TCSS had originally intended to have school Monday but Superintendent Brian Shumate was worried about flooding concerns that may be created overnight with additional rain falling, as well as taking into consideration the damage from the West Point tornado earlier in the day. Shumate said safety is TCSS’ number one concern.
“All TCSS employees should report to work tomorrow as safely as possible unless they are affected by the recent storms,” a TCSS press release said. “If school district employees have issues based on the impending weather or the tornado, they should contact their supervisor.”
