Mrs. Barbara Jean Wheat passed away Wednesday at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
She was born in LaGrange, Georgia on March 19, 1951, to the late George Turnbough, Sr. and Odessa Johnson Turnbough.
She was educated in LaGrange and upon graduating LaGrange High School, she went on to Georgia State University, where she studied psychology and mental health.
Barbara worked as a guard at Troup County Sheriff’s Department and a caregiver at Pathways.
In the late 80’s, Barbara opened Barbara’s Elegant Touch Hair Salon.
As the Elect Lady of (JCCWC), Jesus Christ Christian Worship Center; Barbara Jean wore many hats and impacted many lives.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Edward Wheat, Sr.; her son, Minister Christopher Wheat; her stepchildren: Edward Wheat, Jr. and Andreana Jackson; daughter-in-law, Tara Wheat; siblings: Lola Turnbough Hayes, Gloria Turnbough Camille, Dorsey Turnbough, and Margaret Roundtree; and a host of other family members and friends.
The Service will be Friday at 2 P.M. at First Pentecostal Church.
The excellent care of Mrs. Wheat is being provided by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.
