Teen shot in apparent accidental shooting

Sheriff’s investigators are investigating an incident where a teen was shot in the face.
Friday evening, about 5:57 p.m., Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2400 block of Cameron Mill Rd. about a subject that had been shot.
Deputies arrived to find a 15-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was airlifted to an Atlanta area hospital in serious condition.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, the initial investigation has revealed that the victim, along with other teenagers, were carelessly handling a handgun in the home when at some point the weapon was fired and the victim was struck in the face.
Deputies say at this time the incident appears to be a tragic accident.
