Hillcrest Elementary School has hired its new principal, pending board approval.
The Troup County School System announced Elizabeth Doerr as the new principal of Hillcrest Elementary School in a press release Tuesday, pending board approval at the school board meeting this Thursday night.
Doerr competed against five very strong candidates during interviews on Monday, June 12, 2023. The interview process included two interview committees. The secondary committee was led by the Chief Talent Officer for Troup County Schools. This committee was composed of two teachers, two classified staff members, two parents and two students. The primary committee consisted of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and six members of the district administrative team. After thorough discussion by both committees, Elizabeth Doerr was selected as the new principal to lead Hillcrest Elementary School.
Doerr currently serves as an assistant principal at Franklin Forest Elementary School and has been a loyal employee of the Troup County School System for 22 years. Prior to becoming an elementary assistant principal, she served as an academic coach and teacher at Hollis Hand Elementary and Rosemont Elementary. Doerr recently participated in the TCSS Leadership Development Principals for Tomorrow cohort.
In her application materials Doerr said: “I am confident in the skillset that I will bring to this position and am equally committed to making a difference for both students and teachers. My dedication to the Troup County School System demonstrates that I am committed to the success of the students and have a passion for the curriculum and methods used to achieve that success.”
