On Wednesday, Second Time Around officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting held by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce.
Owned by husband-wife duos Ronnie and Vicky LeFevers and Ralph Barton and Leigh-Ann Barton, Second Time Around is a vintage antique and consignment shop.
Vicky said the business initially started in their home before the couple decided to take the leap and open a storefront.
“I was afraid to open a store because a small business is scary but when the building became open, the owner called me, and we jumped on it,” Vicky said. “Before I was Christian, some people would have considered me junk. When I became a Christian, I got a second chance hence the name of our shop Second Time Around. We’re going to do it right this time, and the furniture gets a second chance as we refurbish, rehome it and find another home.”
Ronnie said the store works with dealers who rent space in the shop for $1.50 per square foot.
“We build out the space for them in whatever square footage they’re needing and help them with anything that we can to help them get set up to be successful. We also do consignment items. Since there’s no rent involved, we just sell it, and then we get 30% of the price when it sells,” Ronnie said.
He said right now the shop has 29 vendors.
The duo said to have the support of the community on their store opening was amazing.
“It’s unbelievable that even with the storms and rain, we had this many people show up today to support us. It’s a great community, great Chamber of Commerce, and we’re just so grateful to have had everyone here,” Ronnie said.
As a part of their store opening, Ronnie said they will be hosting a few events over the weekend.
“On Friday evening, we will be hosting a meet and greet downtown from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be our own version of a sip and shop,” Ronnie said. “On Saturday, starting around noon, we will have live music out on the patio area, food trucks and a lot of excitement around the opening of our business. We welcome everyone to come out and celebrate the opening with us.”
Second Time Around is located at 300 E Bacon St.
