A suspect is in custody for the murder of Alan Dale Huguley Jr. that occurred at a LaGrange hotel in January.
Lateef Jamil Moreland, 23, has been charged with murder with a gun for the deadly shooting of Huguley.
Lt. Chris Pritchett with the LaGrange Police Department said that a warrant had been issued some time ago after he was identified as a suspect in the Jan. 28 murder. Authorities in Valdosta, Georgia located Moreland and arrested him on the outstanding warrant and LPD officers brought him back to LaGrange.
Moreland was booked into the Troup County Jail on Wednesday, where he remains without bond.
LaGrange police began investigating the case on Jan. 28, 2023, when officers responded to the Quality Inn on Jameson Drive in reference to a person shot. Officers arrived just before midnight and found Huguley Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center where he passed away as a result of injuries sustained during the shooting.
Police say two men were seen running away from the scene after the shooting. The second individual has not been publicly identified by police.
