Mr. Horace Sonny Cosper, age 85, of Columbus, formerly of LaGrange, passed away on Aug. 28, 2023.  Mr. Cosper was born on March 27, 1938, in LaGrange to the late Horace Cosper and Odell Thompson Cosper. 

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Murlene Cosper. 

 He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was the Gym Director for Callaway Education.  

Survivors include his wife, Melva Cook Cosper; children, Gary Alan Cosper, Jeffery Lane Cosper (Faith Phillips) and Deirdre Greer (Richard); grandchildren, Jeremy Cosper, Brittney Andrews (Easton), Trey Cosper, Tyson Cosper (Jessica), Paige Cosper, Alyvia Cosper, Corey Greer and Lauren Stice; great-grandchildren, Nora Cosper, Kason Pike, Lilah Cosper, Gracelyn Cosper, John Cosper, Hayden Stice and Bentley Stice; extended family. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at 1 P.M. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel.  

Family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at noon.  

Private interment will be held at Shadowlawn/Hillview Annex.
