The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that it will be adding a temporary traffic signal next week off of Interstate 85’s Exit 2 at the State Route 18 Interchange off-ramp.
GDOT contractors will be putting in a temporary signal at I-85 at Exit 2 at State Route 18 beginning Sept. 14, 2023, according to GDOT District 3 Communications Officer Gina Snider.
Messaging boards will be placed in the area to alert drivers of the new signal.
The temporary signal is expected to help control traffic for the nearby bridge replacement, which is one of two projects being done simultaneously at the interchange.
The other project involves the installation of roundabouts where the exit and entrance ramps to the interstate connect with Georgia 18, as well as another roundabout at the Georgia 18 and Georgia 103 intersection.
Travelers in the area are advised to expect delays and exercise caution by reducing their speed as they drive through work zones.
The traffic signal is expected to begin on Sept. 14 but the exact start date may change due to weather or other factors.
