Harlan Wayne Chesnut, 74, of LaGrange, GA passed away peacefully at this home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. He was born July 28, 1949 in Franklin, Georgia (Heard County) to the late James and Louise Chesnut. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Chesnut. Wayne retired from the University of Georgia where he worked as the Troup County Extension Agent. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era stationed in Okinawa and New Jersey from September 30, 1972 to September 22, 1975. He also graduated with a Master’s of Science degree from Auburn University (2006) and a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture degree from the University of Georgia (1982). He is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyce Bradley Chesnut; daughter, Cathrine Chesnut; brothers, Randy Chesnut (Janice); Jim Chesnut (Angie) and Kenneth Chesnut; sisters, Edna Aikens (Anthony) and Marlane Dainels (George); several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M Thursday, December 28, 2023 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, GA. The Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service on Thursday. The burial will take place after the service at Centralhatchee Parkway Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin, GA. In lieu of flowers donations to the cancer society of your choice would be appreciated.
