GSP investigating fatal Gabbettville Road collision

The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating a late-night crash that killed a man between West Point and LaGrange Tuesday night.
On Jan. 16, around 10:22 p.m., Georgia State Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Gabbettville Road near West Point Road (GA-14).
According to the preliminary investigation by the Georgia State Patrol, crash investigators determined that a Honda Civic had been negotiating a curve headed north on Gabbettville Road near West Point Road when a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was taking the same curve headed south.
The driver of the truck failed to maintain its lane of travel and struck the Honda Civic head-on in the northbound travel Lane.
After the collision, truck came to an uncontrolled rest in the northbound travel lane facing south. Honda came to a final uncontrolled rest in the northbound travel lane facing north.
Troup County Assistant Coroner Amy Shephard has identified the deceased victim as 47-year-old Latego Anquan Rutledge. An occupant in the other vehicle was taken to a Columbus hospital with non-fatal injuries.
Rutledge had been in the 2008 Toyota Tacoma when the collision occurred.
This incident is still under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol and no further information has been provided at this time.
