Tellez stars as Cougars dominate on the road

aThe Cougars went on the road and meant business on Friday night as Lafayette Christian blew out Praise Academy 74-50.
Bruno Tellez put in a masterful performance on the offensive end of the floor, scoring a game-high 37 points in the contest. After “just” 13 points scored in the first half, Tellez completely took over the second half with 24 points, scoring with ease from every spot on the court.
Joshua Zapata also had a big night for the Cougars, tallying 21 points. Nine of those points came in the first quarter as he helped set the tone early in the game.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead, 24-17 after the opening quarter. Both offenses hit a slump in the second quarter with the Cougars barely able to outscore Praise Academy, 9-8.
Lafayette Christian found its offensive poise once again in the second half and was able to put some distance between the two teams.
Vakiel Hammett had seven points while Kaden Neal and Bradley Miller scored five and four points, respectively, to round out the scoring for the Cougars.
Lafayette Christian has now won five straight games to improve to 9-4 overall and sits at 2-1 in region play. The Cougars will be back in action on Monday when they travel to take on Holy Ground for an important region matchup. The Cougars won the first contest between the two teams at home, 62-58.
