It was a tough night for the Callaway girls soccer team as they lost a thrilling 6-3 game to Central Phenix City (AL) on Friday.
The Cavaliers started the game well, proving the better team over the first 30 minutes and were rewarded when Isla Garcia buried a shot 28 minutes into the game to break the deadlock.
Unfortunately, Callaway unraveled in the final minutes of the half and ended up trailing 2-1 heading into halftime.
The second half did not start well for the Cavaliers as a couple of goals early left them in a 4-1 hole.
Callaway never quit or gave in and attempted to rally late. Mary Kate Baswell and Garcia each scored a goal in the second half to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Cavaliers could not find the tying goal as the Red Devils scored a couple of late goals to make the score more flattering for themselves.
Callaway is now 2-3 on the season. The Cavaliers will look to get back in the win column next Tuesday at home against Trinity Christian.
