The Troup County School System approved its school calendars for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school year during Thursday night’s school board meetings.

Here are the important dates on each calendar:

2024-2025

• The first day of school is Friday, Aug. 2.
• Monday, Sept. 2 is an off day for Labor Day.
• Friday, Oct. 4, Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct. 8 are student holidays. Oct. 4 is a professional learning day for staff.
• Thanksgiving break includes a week off, from Nov. 25-Nov. 29 (not counting bookend weekends.)
• The last day of the fall semester is Dec. 19. Students are out for Christmas break until Jan. 7. Teachers return Monday, Jan. 6 for a professional learning day.
• Schools are closed on Monday, Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Day.
• Presidents Day will again result in a four-day weekend for students with Friday, Feb. 14 and Monday, Feb. 17 as off days. Feb. 14 is a professional learning day for teachers.
• Spring Break will be Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 (not counting weekends).
• The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 22.

2025-2026

• The first day of school is Friday, Aug. 1.
• Monday, Sept. 1 is an off day for Labor Day.
• Friday, Oct. 10, Monday, Oct. 13 and Tuesday, Oct. 14 are student holidays. Oct. 10 is a professional learning day for staff.
• Thanksgiving break includes a week off, from Nov. 24-Nov. 28 (not counting bookend weekends.)
• The last day of the fall semester is Dec. 18. Students are out for Christmas break until Jan. 6. Teachers return Monday, Jan. 5.
• Schools are closed on Monday, Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Day.
• Presidents Day will again result in a four-day weekend for students with Friday, Feb. 13 and Monday, Feb. 16 as off days. Feb. 13 is a professional learning day for teachers.
• Spring Break will be Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3 (not counting weekends).
• The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 21.
