The LaGrange girls soccer team hit the road for their region opener on Thursday and returned home with a dominant 11-0 win over Riverdale. It was a much-needed victory for the Grangers, who had dropped four games in a row coming into Thursday’s contest
Sophomore Reese Humphries was the star of the show. The attacking midfielder scored a hat trick while providing four assists as she orchestrated the Granger offense. It has been a big week for Humphries, who also scored the team’s lone goal in a 6-1 loss to McIntosh on Tuesday.
Humphries was not the only player that had a big game. Senior Sam Cottle scored two goals and provided two assists. Junior Karley Perry, a Georgia State commit, scored two goals and provided one assist.
Carlee Roland, Ava Arrington, Anna Poe and Amelia Rockwell all scored a goal apiece while Roland and Poe also registered an assist each.
Emma Maradik got the start in goal and kept a clean sheet
LaGrange has faced a brutal opening schedule and as a result, is just 2-4 on the season. The Grangers will be back on the pitch on Friday when they travel to take on Columbus.
