Mr. Selby W. Nolen, age 91, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.
Mr. Nolen was born in Heard County, Georgia on April 17, 1932, the son of the late G.R. Nolen and Annie Veal Nolen.
He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Douglas & Lomason in Carrollton.
Mr. Nolen grew up in the Glenloch Community and was a member of Glenloch Baptist Church having served as a deacon for over 70 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Denney Nolen; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ronnie Lovvorn, Rhonda and Kevin Moon; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Keri Nolen; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Moon, Mickie Thames; grandchildren, Lauren and John Hunter, Kristin and Josh Walston, Stephanie and Bobby Shelton, Josh Lyons; great grandchildren, Chandler Morris, Kyleigh Morris, Allie Walston, Bryar Shelton, Brantley Shelton, Bella Kate Shelton, Abigail Hunter; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Ivie Lee Nolen, brothers, Elbert Nolen, Wendall Nolen, Houston Nolen and half-brother, Colbert Nolen.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1 P.M. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Pastor Neil Awbrey officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 A.M. until the service hour.
Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens with Mr. Terry Harper officiating and the American Legion Post #143 providing military honors.
Pallbearers will be Chandler Morris, John Hunter, Josh Walston, Bobby Shelton, Jared Mathis and Tony Thompson.
The family would like to extended their deepest appreciation to the staff of Laurel Glen and Tanner Hospice for their exceptional care.
