There’s only one more day of qualifying left, and as of right now, there’s a Troup County School Board seat where there are zero candidates.
No one has qualified for Brandon Brooks district 3 seat on the Troup County School Board. Brooks currently serves as the board chair, but the chairperson is voted on by the actual board after the election.
Election Supervisor Andrew Harper said he is unclear of what happens if no one qualifies for the seat, a scenario he’s never seen play out. Harper said it’s possible qualifying would be extended or the election for that seat would be moved to November.
The other school board seats aren’t exactly competitive either. Right now, the only candidates are Tripp Foster (district 6), Dan McAlexander (district 5) and incumbent Ferrell Blair (district 2).
Qualifying ends at noon on Friday.
