The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a flood watch from Friday evening through late Saturday night.
The watch covers most of north and central Georgia including Troup County.
The storm system is expected to produce moderate to heavy rainfall in the region between Friday night and Saturday night. Rainfall totals of 1 to 4 inches are anticipated, with local highs potentially causing flooding.
According to NWS, the rainfall may combine with already saturated soil to produce flooding. Excessive runoff may also result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Area creeks and streams are already running high and could rise further with more heavy rain.
Residents are advised to monitor subsequent forecasts and be prepared for potential flash flood warnings.
