What a difference a few hours makes.
Seven candidates threw their name in the hat for Troup County School Board on the final day of qualifying Friday, ensuring all four school board races are competitive. Through the first four days of qualifying, only three candidates had qualified and District 3 didn’t have any candidates.
On Friday, that changed in a big way.
Here’s a quick look at the candidates in each district:
TROUP COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 2
Of the four incumbents, only District 2’s Ferrell Blair is running for re-election. He’ll be challenged by Joseph Kirkland.
TROUP COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 3
District 3 will have a new representative as incumbent Brandon Brooks did not run for re-election.
He’ll be replaced by James Thompson, Beth Jackson or Daniela Bailey.
TROUP COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 5
Incumbent Cathy Hunt did not run for re-election in District 5, meaning new representation for this district.
Dan McAlexander, Rachel Lynn Neal and Inetha Hatten are the candidates.
TROUP COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 6
District 6 will have a new representative since Joe Franklin did not run for re-election.
Tripp Foster will face off with Miracle Shante Lovelace-Williams for the seat.
We’ll have more on all of the candidates in the days ahead.
