Callaway made quick work of McNair on Tuesday, walloping the Mustangs 18-0. It was a quick game for the Cavaliers that lasted all of 2.5 innings before the mercy rule was triggered.
The Cavaliers put the game out of reach early putting 12 runs past McNair in the bottom of the first. Wild pitches and errors were common for the Mustangs and Callaway took advantage of a couple early to go up 2-0. Julian Dukes hit a one-run single to put the Cavaliers up 3-0. Blake Harrington and Wesley Williams hit back-to-back one-run singles to make it 5-0. A Wild pitch and a hit batter with the bases loaded allowed two more runs to score. Slade Hunt drove in two runs with a single followed by Bryce Hubbard hitting a two-run double to make it 11-0. A wild pitch allowed the 12th and final run of the inning to score.
The second inning was more of the same as Callaway added six runs to its lead. A Hunter Brown walk with the base loaded allowed the first run to score followed by a two-run single from Vince Williams. A wild pitch allowed the fourth run of the inning to score and Dukes brought home the final two with a triple.
While it was only three innings, Hunter Brown and Dukes combined to pitch a perfect game on the mound. Brown got the start and pitched the first two innings, striking out all six batters and Dukes pitched the final inning and fanned all three batters he faced.
Dukes had a masterful game from the plate as well, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Vince, Wesley, Hunt, Hubbard, Luke Taylor, Brantin Swanson and Brody Swanson all had a hit each in the game.
Callaway has now won 10 games in a row to improve to 10-2 on the season. The Cavaliers will be looking to make it 11 in a row on Thursday when they travel to take on McNair.
