Callaway runs past ELCA

The Callaway boys soccer team is finding their rhythm. The Cavaliers defeated Eagle’s Landing 8-1 to make it three wins in a row.
It took all of one minute before sophomore Rickey Vaughn broke the deadlock with a goal. It would not be long before Callaway made it 2-0 and then 3-0 as senior Greyson Batchelor banged in a couple of goals before the 10-minute marker. Batchelor capped off his hat trick in the 33rd minute when he put Callaway up 7-0.
Vaughn scored a second in the first half while Jadyen Bailey, Andre Molina and Jaylen Williams all had a goal each.
Bailey controlled the game with his passing and also registered four assists.
The Chargers pulled a goal back just before half, but trailed 8-2 at the break as all the goals were scored in the opening 40 minutes.
The second half was shortened to 20 minutes and although it featured chances on both sides, there was no breakthrough.
Brayden Morris came though with multiple saves in goal to keep the Chargers from scoring more than one goal.
Callaway has now won four its its past five games to improve to 6-3 on the season. The Cavaliers have a busy five days next week with four games on the docket. It all starts with a road game against Bowden on Monday.
