Simply put, the Callaway boys soccer team needed a victory on Tuesday to earn a home playoff game and keep their hopes of a region championship alive. The Cavaliers delivered with a 1-0 win to all but ensure the team one of the top two seeds in the region.
Senior Greyson Batchelor played the hero once again as he has all season, scoring the only goal in the 11th minute of the game. The Cavaliers have had two region games decided by a single goal this season and both times Batchelor scored the winning goal.
Equally as important this season has been the development of sophomore goalkeeper Brayden Morris. He has made some important saves this season including four on Tuesday to keep his fourth clean sheet of the season.
It was a tactical game with not a lot of clear cut chances for either team.
Callaway has now won five games in a row to improve to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in region play. The Cavaliers will play their third game in as many days when they travel to Lithonia on Wednesday.
