Suspect identified in drag racing deaths

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office has identified one individual believed to be involved in the deadly drag racing incident on Antioch Road.
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Willie David Rhodes, Jr. on 11 charges in total, including two counts of vehicular homicide.
An attorney for Rhodes said he intends to turn himself in Friday afternoon, according to Sheriff James Woodruff.
According to GSP, on the night of March 10, a Chevrolet S-10 was allegedly drag-racing another vehicle on Antioch Road and lost control of the truck, striking a Chevrolet Trailblazer parked on the shoulder of the roadway.
Cory Maddox, 42, and Matalito Bass, 47, were killed in the incident and three others were injured.
