LaGrange Police are investigating an incident where a man allegedly brutally attacked a woman over a period of days causing significant injuries.

Officers began investigating the incident after being called to the Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center around midnight on Saturday. Police were told a patient involved in a domestic dispute had received significant brain trauma.

Police say over the course of the subsequent investigation, it was determined that John Houston Whitworth had maliciously beaten an adult female victim several times from March 22 to March 24. As a result of the alleged beatings, the victim received a serious brain injury.

The victim received medical treatment and is stable as of last report.

On Monday evening around 6 p.m., Whitworth was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery.
