We are not in Kansas anymore: Superman movie brings production to LaGrange

Troup County is serving as a stand-in for Smallville, Kansas with the new Superman movie, codenamed Genesis, bringing production to the Troup County area according to county officials.
The production is set to be in Troup County until June 14th as the bulk of the filming for the movie takes place in Atlanta. According to an official special events permit filed with Troup County, production began on May 28th and will last until June 14th.
Pre-production is currently taking place on the 600 block of Stovall Rd. at a home owned by the Whitlow family with production equipment being stored in the former Whitesville Road Middle School. The production setup began late last week.
According to an official casting call from Central Casting Georgia, a six month, three year old and six year old will be cast in a featured role to be filmed on June 6.
The movie, which is currently set to release on Jul 11, 2025, will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, alongside a stacked cast of actors playing various characters from DC Comics. The film will be the start of a new DC Universe with James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy Trilogy and The Suicide Squad) directing and shepherding in the new age of DC movies.
The film has been in production since 2022 with filming starting on Feb. 29, 2024.
This will be the first solo Superman movie since 2013’s Man of Steel.
The movie is under the production of Warner Brothers, whose parent company is Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.
