LFD responds to house fire at 203 Front Street

CITY OF LAGRANGE, GA. JUNE 24TH, 2024 – At 9:18pm on June 22nd, 2024, LaGrange Fire Department units were dispatched to a structure fire at 203 Front Street. An initial report indicated heavy smoke coming from the roof. LaGrange Fire Department units, along with the Troup County Fire Department, arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and visible flames. The T-32 officer conducted a 360-degree assessment of the structure and then established command and accountability.

Engine 4 crew arrived with T-32 and initiated an aggressive initial attack, making entry through the front door. T-32 crew performed a quick and thorough search of the residence, finding no victims. Additional units arrived on scene and assisted with the search of the structure, setting up a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). After a secondary search was completed, it was determined that no one was inside the structure, which was a single-story wood-framed single-family dwelling.

The fire was extinguished and brought under control at 9:37pm, just 14 minutes after the first unit arrived. An estimated of $4,000 worth of property damage along with an additional $1,000 worth of content loss was suffered. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
