Troup County, Ga. July 16, 2024 – In the spirit of National Rural Transit Day, which is recognized on July 16 each year to celebrate community connectivity, Troup County is pleased to announce the renaming of our local transit service to Troup Connects!
Formerly Troup Transit, Troup Connects is a curbside, on-demand transportation service primarily for seniors and disabled passengers. At $2 per stop across Troup County, this service is intended to provide users with a renewed sense of mobility and independence as they go to the grocery store or to doctor appointments. Seniors 55+ who sign up in advance with the Active Life Senior Centers in LaGrange and Hogansville are able to be transported free of charge to and from the centers daily, subject to availability, for lunches, recreation, and socialization.
In 2023, over 23,500 one-way passenger trips were taken using this transit service, and 21,551 trips were taken in 2022. Troup Connects will now have three new vehicles on the road: one Chevrolet Express 14-Passenger Van and two Ford 8-Passenger Transit Vans.
Please note that all rides require an appointment made on a first come, first served basis that must be scheduled at least 24-48 hours before the ride; appointments can be made weeks in advance of the intended trip. If you or someone you know would like to schedule a ride, please contact the Troup Connects Office: 706-883-1673. Their normal business hours are Monday – Friday, 6am-2pm.
