UPDATE: Powell found and arrested on child molestation and rape charges

On Saturday, July 13, 2024, officers with the LaGrange Police Department received information that Jeremy Powell was hiding at 42 Ash Drive. Surveillance was conducted at the location and it was verified that Powell was inside the residence. Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted LaGrange Police Officers and Detectives in surrounding the house and safely taking Powell into custody after a search warrant was secured. The LaGrange Police Department would like to thank the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Marshall’s Service, as well as the community as a whole all the assistance that was provided leading to taking this fugitive into custody.

LAGRANGE, Georgia – On April 12, 2024 at approximately 1300 hours, officers with LaGrange Police Department responded to a school within the city in reference to a student reporting ongoing sexual abuse of themselves, and their siblings, to a faculty member. The abuse had been ongoing for several years. The siblings were located and also interviewed, and witnesses were also met with to corroborate the allegations being made. The offender was identified as Jeremy William Powell, who was known to the victims at the time of the incidents. Warrants were issued for Powell’s arrest, to include rape, child molestation, and numerous other offenses. He remains at large at this time.
