On Wednesday morning, the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of The Glass Doctor in LaGrange.

The Glass Doctor is an auto glass repair and replacement shop located in the former Troup County News building at 500 New Franklin Road,  Suite B.

Owner Rashad Johnson said the shop specializes in all window replacements for vehicles from the windshield to the rear glass but they also do rock chip repairs, headlight restoration and hydrophobic coatings.

The Glass Doctor is the newest veteran-owned business in LaGrange. Johnson served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1996 to 2000, stationed out of San Diego, California on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier.

After leaving the Navy, Johnson worked in the aviation industry and later in utilities. Still, he wanted to own his own business, so he brought The Glass Doctor franchise to LaGrange.

Johnson said that a lot of cars, particularly older domestics, they can come to your home or business to replace your windshield without needing to come into the shop. He said any vehicles that have cameras that need to be calibrated would still need to come into the shop.

“A lot of the newer cars with cameras and stuff that do lane departure and adaptive cruise, those have to be calibrated in the shop,” Johnson said.

The Glass Doctor is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday by appointment only.
